If you would have asked me a year ago if I would be writing a blog, I would have laughed at you.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE blogs!  I love reading a variety of them to get inspirations for recipes, projects around the house, and even DIY ideas.  I just never thought that I would ever have ideas as wonderful and creative as these bloggers that I have followed for so long.  After a lot of thought and push from friends and family, I decided to bite the bullet and do it!  So, here we go!  But before we get started, I want to tell you a little about the journey that lead me to this blog.

After teaching in the public school system for seven wonderful years, I decided to find something a little closer to home (I was commuting 100 miles a day), which lead to me becoming a nanny.  Working for a family in Atlanta with two of the sweetest children was such a wonderful experience, and was a great transition from teaching.  I was able to apply some of my knowledge I learned teaching in the classroom to educational activities for the kids.  It was also good preparation for having a baby, as shortly after starting work with this precious family, I found out I was pregnant with my own little one.  After my daughter was born, I could no longer make the commute to Atlanta from Woodstock, so decided to watch a few local children in my own home.  Wanting to apply the same learning principles and activities that I did with the former children I watched, I began looking to Pinterest and these blogs that I had idolized for so many years.  However, I was not always finding the answers I was looking for, and I found myself “tweaking” and/or “making up” some of these activities as I went along.  After a lot of trial and error, I finally got brave enough to start posting my “experiments” on social media.  I had an outpouring of support and encouragement to start a blog and share these ideas.  So, here we are…

My fear in starting this blog is that I would come across as arrogant or a “know it all.”  I by no means have ALL the answers, nor will I ever pretend to.   Do I make mistakes? The answer is yes!  Do I plan the best educational activities on a daily basis?  The answer is most certainly not!  Do I ever get lazy and pop in a video?  Absolutely (we ALL have those days where we need a break)!  Am I the “perfect” mom?  NO!  And as far as I am concerned the only place where perfection exists is defined in the dictionary.  I am simply Stephanie-a former teacher, turned nanny, turned stay at home mom running a “daycare” (for lack of a better word), and I want to share with you my experiences of what has worked, and what has failed.  My hope for this blog, and for you, is that someone out there will find inspiration and comradery in doing what I believe is one of the hardest jobs in the world- being a mom.  Hopefully you will gain inspiration of activities, ideas, books, and even projects that will help your child have fun and learn in order to prepare for pre-school on a daily basis.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for reading and following along on this next step of my journey into becoming a blogger!
